An overseas qualification can meet the educational requirements for admission as a solicitor in the UK if it is shown to be equivalent to a UK degree or an equivalent qualification. To determine this equivalence, the qualification must satisfy one of the following criteria:
Equivalent to a UK Degree or Equivalent Qualification
The qualification must be comparable in academic level and rigour to a degree awarded in the UK. The SRA will verify this equivalence during the admission process.
Accredited at Level 6 or Above of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)
Qualifications aligned with the EQF at level 6 or above are also accepted. The EQF is a Europe-wide framework that facilitates the comparison of qualifications across European countries, ensuring that the educational standards meet the criteria required for solicitor qualification.
