How Many Competences Do You Need for QWE?
Share
To qualify as QWE, your role must involve exposure to at least two competencies from the Statement of Solicitor Competence. Although developing a broad range of competencies during QWE is ideal, only two competencies are required for the experience to meet QWE standards. This means you do not need to cover every competency to have your experience qualify, nor are you restricted to specific competencies. For instance, competencies such as obtaining relevant facts (B1) and advising on options, strategies, and solutions (B3) might be sufficient for certain roles to qualify.
However, if a role involves only one competency, it does not meet the threshold for QWE, even if it involves the provision of legal services. This minimum competency requirement ensures that you gain a foundational variety in skills that reflects real-world legal practice, ultimately supporting their success in the SQE assessments and their readiness to qualify as solicitors.
