FLK1 Blueprint
Share
The SQE1 blueprint is essentially the exam map. The Solicitors Regulation Authority uses it to decide how many questions should fall into each subject area in FLK1 and FLK2. Each question is officially labelled under one main subject, even if it actually tests more than one. For example, if the blueprint states that 20% of questions are Contract, this does not mean that only 20% of the assessment requires contract knowledge. It simply means that 20% of the questions are primarily classified as Contract, even if they may also test legal knowledge from other FLK1 subjects.
| FLK1 Assessment | Percentage | Number of Questions |
| Business Law and Practice* | 14–20% | 25–36 |
| Constitutional and Administrative Law** | 7–10% | 12–18 |
| Contract Law | 14–20% | 25–36 |
| Dispute Resolution* | 14–20% | 25–36 |
| Ethics and Professional Conduct | Pervades | |
| Legal Services | 12–16% | 21–29 |
| Legal System of England and Wales** | 7–10% | 12–18 |
| Tort Law | 14–20% | 25–36 |
* These subjects are traditionally content-heavy LPC subjects, so we believe they will be tested more frequently than other subjects with the same weighting.
** According to the official SQE1 blueprint, the Legal System of England and Wales, Sources of Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, and EU Law are grouped into a single category, accounting for 14–20% of the FLK1 paper. We estimate that the Legal System of England and Wales comprises roughly half of that weight, with Constitutional and Administrative Law (including EU Law) making up the remainder.
