What is UOLLB SQE Turbocharge?

UOLLB SQE Turbocharge is a series of SQE Study Guides developed by the world-renowned legal educator UOLLB and published by UOL Press, a leading publisher in law. This collection is meticulously designed to provide a streamlined, effective study experience for aspiring solicitors. Each guide breaks down complex legal concepts into clear, concise bullet points, enhanced with case law, statutory references, and real-world applications, making it ideal for self-study. Updated twice yearly to reflect the latest SQE curriculum changes, UOLLB SQE Turbocharge empowers SQE candidates to prepare for the SQE with confidence and succeed in the actual exam without the need for expensive courses.

Why choose UOLLB for SQE preparation?

Preparing for the SQE can be challenging, and choosing the right resources is crucial to your success. UOLLB SQE Turbocharge offers comprehensive SQE Study Guides to help you overcome this most challenging hurdle of becoming a respectable solicitor.

Our SQE Study Guides cover all areas of Functioning Legal Knowledge in a way that simplifies complex legal concepts without sacrificing depth. Our team of legal experts condenses dense legal material into high-performance study guides that explain all topics listed in the SQE1 Assessment Specification. Each of our SQE modules is broken down into structured, digestible bullet points and flowcharts, making it easier to retain and apply legal knowledge efficiently.

UOLLB SQE Turbocharge not only provides subject-specific content but also integrates ethics and professional conduct throughout, preparing you to tackle every aspect of SQE1. Unlike generic study guides, our SQE Study Guides are tailored to mirror the SRA's emphasis on applying legal knowledge in practical scenarios, offering targeted guidance on handling real-world client situations, ethical considerations, and fundamental legal principles. Our study materials are revised biannually, so you will always study the most up-to-date curriculum.

With UOLLB, you gain access to a powerful, practical approach to the SQE, built on years of success in helping students achieve first-class results and pass professional exams. Choose UOLLB to gain the edge you need to pass the SQE confidently and cost-effectively, without the need for expensive courses.

Do your study guides cover the whole SQE1 syllabus?

Our SQE Study Guides are meticulously crafted in accordance with the SQE1 Assessment Specification published by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Unlike other revision guides that focus only on key topics, our guides cover the entire syllabus for both FLK1 and FLK2, ensuring you have comprehensive coverage of all required topics. However, to enhance your learning experience, we have rearranged some topics for better clarity and understanding. For instance, the topics of causation and remoteness, which are specified under Contract Law, are explained in our SQE Tort Law guide. Similarly, the rights of audience and the appeal system, listed under the Legal System, are covered in our SQE Legal Services, SQE Criminal Practice, and SQE Dispute Resolution guides, respectively. Our years of teaching experience have shown that this restructuring, grouping related topics together, significantly improves learning outcomes.

Are UOLLB SQE Turbocharge and UOLLB First Class Law Notes the same?

No, these two sets of study guides are different because they serve distinct purposes. UOLLB First Class Law Notes are designed for law students pursuing a common law degree programme in the UK or abroad. These notes mainly cover the curriculum of LLB, PGDL, GDL, LPC, MLaw, MA Law, and LLM programmes. UOLLB SQE Turbocharge is specifically tailored for SQE1 preparation, covering the entire syllabus and all topics listed in the SQE1 Assessment Specification.

Since the content of law degree programmes and SQE1 differ in scope, relying solely on UOLLB First Class Law Notes would be insufficient for SQE1 preparation. To bridge this gap, we have developed the SQE Foundation Package, using our UOLLB First Class Law Notes, specifically designed for non-law graduates or those unsure of where to begin their SQE preparation. This study package provides a strong foundation and helps learners confidently embark on their legal education. However, it is intended as an introduction and is not enough for full SQE1 preparation on its own.

While some topics of common law degrees and SQE1 overlap, we occasionally reuse well-written content where applicable. Our years of teaching experience have shown that this content helps students learn effectively and will therefore provide you with unparalleled educational experience. UOLLB SQE Turbocharge ensures that you are thoroughly prepared for all SQE1 assessment topics.

Do your study guides contain practice questions?

We provide practice questions separately. As an experienced legal educator, we believe you should first master the functioning legal knowledge before moving on to practice questions. This approach enables you to apply your knowledge comprehensively throughout your preparation, much like the actual exam. While some revisions guides prefer to explain a topic and follow it with practice questions, we believe this topic-by-topic method will not help you become confident in the actual exam, where questions can cover any topic in any order. That is why we separately create SQE1 Mock Exam to help you become familiar with the actual exam format and build your confidence in answering questions across all topics.

How much time do I need to prepare for SQE1?

Your preparation time depends on your readiness and prior studies. For law graduates, we recommend dedicating at least six months to SQE preparation before taking the exam. For instance, if you graduate in June, it is best not to attempt the SQE in July, as this typically does not allow adequate time for thorough revision. Instead, consider the January exam to give yourself ample time. The SQE curriculum is extensive, and no UK law degree programme fully covers it. Traditional law school assessments, such as essays and problem-based questions, do not adequately prepare you for SQE1’s single-best-answer format, which requires you to select the best answer out of five seemingly correct options.

For non-law graduates, we recommend allowing at least 1.5 years to prepare, as starting from a non-law background presents significant challenges in subject knowledge and readiness. The SQE is one of the most demanding and expensive professional exams in the UK, with a pass rate of only 44%, so adequate preparation is essential. We strongly advise against attempting the SQE without sufficient study time.

Can I get an updated version of your study guides after purchase?

We update our SQE Study Guides twice a year to reflect the latest changes in the curriculum and legal developments for every SQE assessment. You can get an updated version of our SQE Study Guides for free using the same download link we send you when you make the purchase. Since the cutoff date for the law tested in the SQE is four calendar months prior to the assessment date, the latest edition of our materials is typically available in August and February. However, this does not mean you should wait until these months to make your purchase. You can always return to download the latest edition as soon as it becomes available. Please note that you can download the law notes 3 times at maximum. This should enable you to access the latest versions throughout your preparation. However, please be mindful when downloading our law notes and refrain from sharing the download link because the download quota cannot be replenished.

How often do you update your study guide?

We continually update our study guides to ensure they remain current and aligned with the latest curriculum. Since the SQE assessment is offered twice a year, the latest edition is typically available five months before each assessment, in August and February. However, you don’t need to wait for the latest edition to be released, as you can always come back to download the newest version within a year of your purchase.

Our mobile-friendly and print-ready SQE Study Guides are only available for purchase on our online bookstore (uolpress.com). You will be able to download the study guide in PDF format immediately after payment. So you can instantly access our top-notch study materials without having to wait for shipment. All our SQE Study Guides found or purchased elsewhere are out-dated pirated guides. If you find anyone sharing or selling our study guides, please contact us to report copyright and trademark infringement.

Can I get a hardcopy of your study guides?

To ensure quick access to our first-class learning materials, we have decided to make our study guides available in digital format only. You can download the study guides immediately after payment so that you can start preparing for the SQE with us right away. We believe this is the most environmentally friendly way to deliver our study guides to you, but you are encouraged to print a hardcopy for yourself because we understand that some candidates feel more assured with physical materials in hand.

We offer a preview covering the first 4 pages of each study guide. You will have the table of contents showing you all the topics that are covered in the guides. We strongly encourage you to read the preview carefully and decide whether the study guides are suitable for you before making the purchase because digital products have a different refund policy. Can I share your study guides other SQE candidates?

We understand that our SQE Study Guides are top-notch study materials highly sought after by SQE candidates. However, we grant permission for personal use of our study materials only to candidates who purchase them directly from UOL Press (uolpress.com). Some people are sharing fake, outdated or modified study guides with the intention of causing SQE candidates to fail the SQE so that they won't be able to compete for job opportunities. If you share our study guides with other candidates who eventually fail their SQE, they will blame you for sharing fake outdated study guides. Do not put yourself in this position and protect yourself by refusing to share our copyrighted study materials. Sharing our study guides with anyone without our written permission constitutes copyright and trademark infringement, which is a crime that will negatively impact your fitness and propriety when the SRA considers your character and suitability before admitting you to the roll of solicitors. Any non-authorised distribution or redistribution of our copyrighted and trademarked materials is strictly prohibited by law and will result in lawsuits against the infringer. If you find anyone sharing or selling our study guides, please contact us to report copyright and trademark infringement. You will be financially rewarded if your information helps us bring infringers to justice. Instead of risking copyright and trademark litigation, we suggest you refer anyone who would like to obtain a copy of our study materials to UOL Press (uolpress.com) to make the purchase directly.

I saw someone selling or sharing your study guides. What is your relationship with them?

It has come to our attention that unscrupulous scammers are selling fake or modified notes to gullible candidates to trick them out of money. While we take this positively as this means our SQE Study Guides are highly sought after by SQE candidates, we must alert you that buying or using counterfeit study guides from scammers will do serious harm to your SQE preparation due to poor quality of the fake study materials, outdated information, and intentionally altered content to make you fail. Anyone selling our study guides are fraudsters because we authorise no one to sell our learning materials. Very often, these fraudsters are also scammers who will simply disappear after obtaining your money. Sometimes, they might attach our logo to any study guides they found online and attempt to sell them as our study guides. Some people share study guides which have been intentionally altered or left outdated to make you fail so that you cannot compete with them for job opportunities. Remember that your peers are also your competitors who may set traps for you to fall into. If you truly understand this competitive nature of the legal profession, you should not share or use study guides obtained from other people. You should only use study guides obtained from reputable sources, such as UOL Press which is only available on uolpress.com. All law notes bearing any of our logos or trademarks you obtained from any other sources are fake, outdated study guides. Using study materials you have no right to use will bring you bad luck in the SQE and beyond. If you find anyone sharing or selling our study guides, please contact us to report copyright and trademark infringement. You will be financially rewarded if your information helps us bring infringers to justice. Be a smart law student, say no to scammers!

Can I purchase your study guides from outside the UK?

Although UOL Press is based in the UK, our SQE Study Guides are available internationally. Every year, many SQE candidates from around the world study with us and make use of our highly acclaimed study materials to prepare for the SQE. You can purchase the study guides using your credit or debit card from any location. However, please be aware that due to payment processing issues, your payment may be blocked by your bank, card company, or our payment system. Should this occur, you will need to transfer the amount directly to our UK bank. If you need help with your purchase, please contact us for further details.

Should I use SQE study notes obtained from someone?

You should never use study notes obtained from someone else or an unknown source due to the unreliability of such information and the competitive nature of legal education. Some people share fake, outdated notes with the malicious intent to make you fail the SQE so that they can stand out from the crowd because you will not be able to compete with them for job opportunities. Last year, a student failed his exams and asked us for help. Upon investigation, we found that he had been using counterfeit notes for revision. The content had been intentionally altered or left outdated to make him fail. Be a smart SQE candidate and use authentic study materials from UOL Press. Don't fall into this trap.

What is your relationship with UOL and UOL Press?

UOL® is one of our registered trademarks, and we are the official UOL Press based in the UK. Any institution and publisher claiming to be UOL Press must have our express or implied consent to use the UOL trademark in accordance with our Trademark Policy. As the UOL trademark owner, only we can claim to be the official UOL Press. Using the UOL trademark without our express or implied consent or in a way that violates our Trademark Policy is an infringement of our trademark rights. For more information, please refer to our Trademark Policy. If you find anyone infringing our intellectual property rights, please contact us to report the IP infringement.

What will you do if someone infringes your IP rights?

We will do everything we can to bring infringers to justice because we spend a lot of time and effort developing world-class learning materials, and it is not fair to law-abiding SQE candidates who purchase directly from us. Sharing and obtaining our study guides from unauthorised sources constitutes trademark and copyright infringement, which is a crime that will negatively impact the infringer's fitness and propriety when the SAR considers his character and suitability before admitting him to the roll of solicitors. We have instructed our IP lawyers to monitor the situation and act on our behalf to sue the infringers. We have delegated our IP enforcement to our lawyers, who will take all the compensation from the infringers because we want to encourage our lawyers to be proactive in pursuing IP infringement. Please note that the decision to sue infringers and the amount of compensation payable will be decided by our lawyers, not by us. If you find anyone infringing our trademark and copyright, please contact us to report the IP infringement. You will be financially rewarded if our lawyers successfully claim IP infringement.
