Do you need a degree to sit SQE?

You do not need a degree to sit SQE1 or SQE2 exams. However, to be admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, you must hold a degree in any subject or an equivalent qualification. In addition to passing the SQE, you will also need to meet other requirements specified by the SRA, such as the character and suitability assessment.

An equivalent qualification refers to something on par with a bachelor's or master's degree. Examples include a Level 6 or Level 7 apprenticeship or a professional qualification at Level 6 or 7. If you do not possess an equivalent qualification, the SRA may consider relevant work experience as equivalent. This allows you to demonstrate competency through practical experience without traditional academic qualifications.
